SLGO is the first integrated ocean observing system in Canada.
Capelin is a key species in the St. Lawrence ecosystem. It is one of the main food sources for several species of fish and birds and even many marine mammals.
If you see capelin spawning or notice signs of its presence (e.g., large flocks of seabirds, capelin stranded on the beach), you are invited to report where the capelin is rolling on our Internet registry.
You may also call our toll-free number to leave your contact information and observations (spawning date and location, quantity of rolling capelin, etc.).Telephone: 1-877-227-6853
